On arrival, the participants will be given a short presentation on the Lassila Farm and the Ceramics Studio.
Mug Decorating
Each participant on the course will decorate a mug from the studio's collection by hand. The participants design their own decorations while Jenni provides help and guidance.The decorated mugs will be glazed and fired after the course. The finished mugs can be collected from the studio or delivered by arrangement. The mugs can withstand normal use and are dishwasher proof.
- Duration: The course itself lasts just under 2 hours. With lunch or coffee at the farmhouse, approx. 3 hours.
- Location: Ceramics Studio Jenni Linnove, Kaatrontie 13, 71820 Pöljä. (upon request in other premises)
- Group size: Minimum 4, maximum 12, room for flexibility at either end.
- Availability: Bookable all year round. Bookings preferably a few weeks in advance, but no later than a couple of days beforehand.
Fixed dates for workshops in 2021 6th of July and 20th of July from 1 pm to 5 pm. - Guide languages: Finnish, English, (some help can also be provided in Swedish and German)
- Price: Mug decorating €24/person (incl. VAT, net price). For groups, mug decorating and a light lunch at the farmhouse €40/ person or mug decorating with coffee at the farmhouse €32/person.
- Included in the price: A half-finished mug from the Ceramics Studio collection, guidance, required colours, use of tools and aprons, glazing and firing of the mug after the course. For groups with an advance booking, a presentation on making mugs and light refreshments at the workshop.
- For an extra charge: Additional articles, mugs and plates for decorating €8/item. By arrangement, lunch or coffee at the farmhouse with a presentation on the history of the house.

Raku Firing
Participants on the course will learn the basics of raku firing and decorate raku articles themselves to take with them as mementos. There are half-finished simple pottery articles in the studio that will be decorated with a raku glaze and fired in an outdoor raku kiln. These will be lifted while red-hot into a smoking container, where the clay mass is stained black and the glazes acquire unexpected colours! The articles are cooled rapidly in water. The firing is repeated until all the articles are finished. The participants will receive their work to take with them at the end of the course.
