The Riuttala Farm House Museum represents early 20th century farm and countryside living and work. The 14 hectare grounds includes over 20 peasant buildings, such as the main manor house, workshop, windmill and a particularly large grain drying barn. What makes the museum unique along with its size are the same items that were used by the inhabitants in the past. The themed days in summer introduce the visitors to traditional food, songs and heritage.

The Finnish Rye Cutting Championships takes place in August (2021 dates tbc). The event has been held at Riuttala for more than 30 years. The contest attracts competitors from around the region and helps to preserve the harvesting tradition and skills. It is always a point of honour for previous winners to come and defend their titles. The Championships are held in two categories –scythe and sickle. At the end of the day, the sides of the field are adorned with rye stooks, each one finer than the other. At Katrin Kammarj', you can try Riuttala's well-known rye porridge. Come and watch the competitors demonstrate their skills or enter yourself –either for the individual or team event!
